Rubí Brilla Initiative was launched in 2011 and since then, it has seen a strong commitment for an Energy Model Change at the local level. Simply applying common sense and involving citizens and companies in the change of the energy culture.

The key to its success is the applied methodology, which uses economic tools commonly used in the business sector, for the development and prioritization of actions and investments. This practice generates a “snowball effect” in the savings achieved. And this methodology is implemented in business, industries, schools and homes.

The savings achieved without investment allow to use these resources to prioritize investments according to their return. And this process continues generating more savings. We use those savings to improve the situation of families in a situation of energetic poverty. Also, we take other actions to improve the quality of life of the citizens of the municipality. We believe it is the only way to change the current energy model (polluting, unfair and expensive) for another one which is clean, fair and cheaper.

The Rubí Brilla experience is today a model that is being replicated in more than 30 municipalities that represent more than 7 million people. Rubí has become an energy efficiency policies model in Spain and Europe.
