Being able to ride a bike can be a source of autonomy and freedom for adults who never learned when they were younger.

Too much people in Paris, specially women coming from sub-Saharan Africa and Maghreb didn’t have the opportunity to ride a bike in their younger ages, it’s a great lack it miss a lot in their life : they cannot move into the city easily, they keep in a great dependence of their husband’s, fathers, brothers.

The goal of the bike lessons is to prepare them to a most Independent life, to give them proudness and self confidence, to raise awareness of petrol issues and fragility of towns, by presenting bike as a solution of mobility in a post-petrol world.

BENEFICIARIES: Young adults (18 – 24), Adults (25 – 65), Elders (65+), Ethnic or Social Minorities


 

MiT note: Teaching adults to cycle. No need for phase 2 (Vélo-école as a tool but too specific intervention). Not suitable for pilot (too specific intervention; no prospects for development).
